However, the days before the trip can get a little hectic, especially as you’re trying to remember everything that you have to do before you leave. That’s why we’ve compiled a quick weekend getaway checklist to make sure you remember to do everything and bring everything before leaving for the weekend.
Check the forecast a few days in advance
Before you start packing, you’ll want to check what the weather will be like once you get to your destination. Start checking the forecast at least a few days in advance so that you have plenty of time to do laundry and plan out what you need to bring.
Bring the basics
Once you know what the weather will be like, it’s time to get packing. Make sure you bring the following items:
- 1-2 pairs of shoes or boots
- Pair of jeans
- Dress shirt
- Two casual tops
- Three pairs of socks and undies
- Bra
- Jacket
- Belt
- Pajamas
- Jewelry
- Sunglasses
- Cellphone charger
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, make up, face wash, etc.)
- Medication
Remember your reservation info
While many places send you reservation confirmation via email, it’s always a good idea to have a print copy on-hand as well. Reservations that you’ve made for hotels, restaurants, or other attractions (a fishing expedition, for example) should be printed out and kept in a single folder for easy access.
Make plans for pets and children
If you’re leaving any pets or children behind at home, check and then double-check that everything is properly arranged for your sitter. Make sure that you have enough food and other necessities, then leave your contact info, as well as the contact info of where you’re staying, so that you can be easily contacted in case of emergencies.
