Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament: August 13th-19th
Located a short 10-minute drive from the cozy village of Wanchese, Manteo is on its’ 39th year of hosting the Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament. Whether you intend to participate or just want to watch the anglers work their magic, this tournament is engaging, fun, and full of excitement!
Note: there is an entry fee if you plan on being in the tournament, but it is free to watch!
New World Festival of the Arts: August 16th-17th
Also conveniently located in Manteo, the New World Festival of the Arts is fun for all ages! Showcasing a wide range of art, jewelry, pottery, and more, there is no shortage of immense talent to appreciate. This is also a free event! Of course, there is the option to buy any items your heart desires from the artists who are selling!
Outer Banks Kite Festival: September 9th- 11th
Located at Jockey Ridge State Park in Nags Head (a short 16-minute trip from Wanchese!) is the Outer Banks Kite Festival. This event is free and fun for all ages! Even if only for a few minutes, make sure you stop by to see some amazing, unique kites flying in the beautiful Outer Banks sky!
